The Brief

A house that should feel effortless — and never go dark.

The architects designed a home of long glass spans, board-formed concrete, and rooms that open entirely to the hillside. The brief to us was deceptively simple: the electrical work should be invisible, the light should flatter the architecture, and the house should run silently through any outage on the grid.

We joined the project at the design table, before a single stud was set. That early seat let us coordinate switch legs, fixture locations, and conduit runs with the framing, the structural steel, and the low-voltage trades — so nothing had to be chased or compromised later.

What We Did

The full studio, on one estate.

Across nine months on site, the project drew on nearly every discipline we practice — coordinated under a single master electrician from rough-in to final commissioning.

  • Whole-home rough-in, trim, and commissioning from the studs out
  • Lutron HomeWorks lighting control throughout the residence
  • Twenty-six-circuit landscape lighting across the grounds and approach
  • 48kW Kohler standby generator paired with a Tesla Powerwall array
  • 400A service with surge protection and immaculate panel work

★★★★★
"A. Wood handled the most complex part of the build and made it the part I worried about least. The lighting is extraordinary, the generator is silent, and two years in we have not had a single callback."
